One of the most charismatic and well-known Aboriginal political leaders of the twentieth century, Charles Perkins was born to Arrernte and Kalkadoon parents in the `old’ Alice Springs telegraph station.

An elite soccer player and the first Aboriginal Australian to graduate from University, his fiery, uncompromising contribution to the Indigenous Rights movement is illuminated by Professor John Maynard, Chair of Aboriginal History at the University of Newcastle.

This hour-long talk at the Australian Museum is a great alternative lunchtime activity, or an opportunity to take your time and visit the museum before or after the talk.
