The Boite

As part of The Boîte's live music program, "Live Music Near Me" The Boîte presents Zulya and the Children of the Underground live at the Music Market, Collingwood Yards.

Zulya, is an acclaimed singer celebrated for her deep exploration of her Tatar roots and diverse musical influences. Born in the Volga-Kama region of Russia, Zulya belongs to the Tatar ethnic group, which has its own distinct language and cultural heritage.

Since her move to Australia, Zulya developed a totally original approach which takes her Tatar and Australian identity to totally new places and in completely new ways. She has independently produced nine albums to date, including ARIA-award winning 3 nights recorded with her band The Children of the Underground.

The band brings a high level of sophistication in arrangement and musicianship to Zulya’s work, immediately apparent in their highly-acclaimed albums. They showcase the band’s impressive playing, intricate compositions and arrangements. The Children of the Underground are Anthony Schulz – accordion, Andrew Tanner – double bass, Lucas Michailidis – guitar and Phil Collings – drums.
